What are you asking? Usually when a motor is built it has 0 miles...as in new. Big boy words will go a long way to get your point across.

What he means is how many miles is too much to add performance to. Not to rebuild.

To add things like a H/C/I swap it all depends on the engine. A very well maintained engine will in most cases respond well to a head, cam and intake swap at 100,000 miles. An engine with 50,000 miles thats been poorly maintained and beaten on heavily may not do so well. It's a case by case thing. I've torn engines down with 150K showing on the clock that had been run on syn oil since day one and were kept up very well that looked like new inside. No bearing wear, cyl walls like new and used no oil. You could put a new timing chain on with the swap and go another 100K in it. There just is no set amoiut

do a compression test, if the numbers look good, who cares how many miles are on the clock

np at.

instead of saying something silly like, how many miles is too many for a motor to be built (which means nothing), why not say...hay guys, how many miles is too many to put a cam in my engine, or put heads on my engine, or etc. I was merely stating that using words that have no meaning don't deserve a real answer IMHO.

then why did you respond? snaps like this is the reason the 5.0 section is so infamous on the board. instead of saying " Big boy words will go a long way to get your point across." you could've said: "What are you asking? Usually when a motor is built it has 0 miles...as in new." and added "Could you be a little more specific on what you mean?"
