MSD 6al ?

I personally saw an engine on a dyno make 19hp more running a MSD ignition versus stock. All that was changed on the engine was the ignition. If you want all you are going to get out of your engine, MSD is the way to go. Look at over 90% of the cars at the track. You shouldn't need more proof than that.

Correct. I should have been more specific but since he said he just ordered the distributor, I figured it was self explanatory.

The MSD 6al is a good unit. I've run them on just about everything I've owned over the last 20 years. It's getting a bit dated. I'd move into a Digital 6 or a 6AL-2. I switched into a Mallory 6AL this go round just to try it. Before MSD I used Mallory stuff. I like being able to change the rev limiter without carrying a bunch of pills.Still a good unit and worth every penny regardless of which one you use.
If the stock distributor has a lot of miles(150K+) I'd keep the MSD

Doesnt MSD make a plug and play thing that allows you to change the RPM range by simply turning a dial, i cant remember whats its called but i think they do. anyway im sure you know what im talking about, so is it compatible with the 6AL

Yes they do, It just adds extra cost to a dated unit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the MSD 6AL. It's just getting out dated. There are just better units on the market now.
