Hi guys, I know as an S197 owner I'm treading into foreign waters, but asking on behalf of my dad.

He's got an 89 Saleen Vert w/ a 302 and a Paxton blower that sees limited use and has been having problems for a couple years now on passing the lovely smog checks here in CA. He's tried driving it for a bit beforehand, and had luck in the past, but not much now.

Anybody else got some insight, besides moving to a different state?

What were the readings at the last inspection?

do a full tune up for starters.
new filters (fuel, air) oil change, clean the injectors, replace the cats if shot

back your base timing down to 8*, make sure the tps is set correct, make sure the coil is sparking strong, if dying, replace it.

I don't know if this is true but i heard about running race gas to pass the test.
