ok, my buddy's 88 5.0 has been at my house for liek 2 months now and i need to get it started. it started up just fine before we took the upper minfiolf off and replaced the gasket. it seems like its not getting enough fuel or spark. im not sure. is there anything that would make it all the sudden not start. it turn over but wont start. not even close sounds liek the motor is just spinning and nothing is igniting. im not sure what to look at. it has spark im not sure if its enough. it has fuel im not sure if its enough either. what should i do im stumped??

Check to see if the rotors on right in the distribitor, or make sure your didnt pinch a fuel line when you took off the manifold.

Getting to basics, the 5 things you need for the engine to run are air, fuel (in the right mixture), spark, compression, and timing. Are you sure there was no vacuum leak when you re-installed the manifold (everythings tight, gasket is good, no left off hoses)? Does it make a difference if you depress the gas pedal when you're turning it over? Does it ever try to fire up (any pops or almost starts)? Are you sure the wires are in the correct firing order (5.0HO is different than regular 5.0)?

Just a few questions to focus the search.
