Default in the middle of changnig inner tie rod ends...

hey guys, I'm in the middle of changing my inner tie rod ends on my 95 mustang cobra. I've got the inner and outer tie rod ends apart but I can't find out how to get the inner tie rod end and steering shaft out. I've hears sometimes you need a special tool but I don't understand what it would do. is there a set screw or something? I don't want to force it and break something

thanks in advance

Socket adapter tool 969230 may be necessary for removal or installation. Heavy duty.

Rent it at autozone.

that end with the ball is what the tool goes on.

That shaft needs to be soaked with penetrating oil,

ok I'm goin to get the tool now and were you saying to soak the new one in penetrating oil or the old one? and for some reason when I took the boot off it leakes some fluid out, is this regular? if not what could it be? I couldn't find out what it was. It could be penetrating oil from the previous owner but I doubt they have ever been done before

great... save that for another day...

I should have waited until you posted, I already went and got it after an hour and a half round trip drive... I didn't understand why I would need one but I didn't want to mess anything up but too late now.

aode08 thank you for the diagrams and pictures.

my last question is do these need to be torqued or just tight?
