Default Exhaust Job

Friend of mine works on mustangs pretty much religiously. Told me he'd re-do my exhaust for 350 at his shop. Everything new from the headers back. Just wondering how good or bad of a deal this might be? He said this is labor and parts (x-pipe/flows/tips). As always, any input is always appreciated.

Depends on the brand of the x pipe and what tips you are getting. 350 isn't a bad deal for just parts alone. Thats about what I spent on my h and pro dump setup. Hope he doesn't do a hack job on hanging it or any of the connections. If he works with stangs like you say, he shouldn't. If you have the stock exhaust on that 84 you might have to swap your tranny crossmember to a double hump, I THINK 85 was the first year to have it and it is needed for a dual exhaust setup along with the passenger side hangers. If your car has a 7.5 rear end be sure he is careful around that brake line on the passenger side too. It is somewhat in the way. I have pics of mine if you don't know what I am talking about.

I believe the x-pipe is bbk and the flows will just be the usual like 40 series. I haven't really questioned him too much. Wanted to see what the fellas on here said first. Although, I've never had someone give me such a good answer. Usually I'm reading responses saying, "Forget that just spend 2,500 on the exhaust parts and have a professional shop do it." Or something out of control. I can never seem to get a positive answer. I'm not 37 living in my own house, I can't just pick and choose what I want on my car. I think a lot of people on here forget about that. But, anyways, he's a mustang guy so I'm sure he'll do a good job, plus if I look at it and don't like what I see he'll fix it for me.

Your car already have dual exhaust? If not he may need more parts then he realizes.

If you have stock manifolds I highly suggest you swap in some 1-5/8" tubular headers.

Yes, my car is dual exhaust lol. I just no longer want to have the set up I have. I want it to be all fresh. Was just wondering what everyone thought of the price. He's already seen my current set up.
