Question T56 In an '85

Hello all, new to the forum here.
I own a 1984 1/2 Mustang GT 350 Hatchback with a 4bbl carb.
I need to raise a new tranny in her soon, the first gear syncronizer is bad and i dont know how long the others will hold, its original from the factory with 190,000+ miles. What I'm wondering is if i can place a T56 in her and if so how bad is the job?? I love the T5 and how bullet proof it is but if i can save enough for a new transmission id love to get my hands on one and keep the T5 for a rebuild and to keep as an original part, i mean it is a collectible after all.
Thanks for reading, and God bless all.

first time I've ever heard someone call a stock T5 bulletproof...

you have options, first a G-Force T5, built to withstand high HP, and drops right in, you'll only have to worry about cracking the case

TKO, everybody seems to have these, good upgrade, easier then a t56 to drop in, kinda notchy

then the T56, you'll need a bellhousing, input shaft(not sure), driveshaft,

they sell kits with everything needed
