Confused about - Alternator 1 or 3 wire?
Hello,
I have a 302 small block from 79. Does it have a 1 wire alternator or a 3 wire alternator?
I am confused because there are 3 wires coming out: bat + sta + ld. The wires sta and ld do not look like the current supply and the sender. The st wire also goes to the choke.
Also, it looks like there is an alternator regulator. Why? Because on the back of a small E-tron box is written: " This regulator is short circuit protected.". Also according to the electrical diagram in the Haynes manual. I can not find any wiring diagram on the internet and the color codes do not match the color codes in the electrical diagram.
Any answers will be appriciated.

Thanks Joel,
This diagram is the same as the one in the Hayes manual.
It rases more questions.
regarding the alternator;
Where is the wht/blk wire going that is not going to the choke? Is this earth?
regarding the regulator;
The yellow wire is clear. According to the diagram there should be one more wire: orange with a light blue stripe.
In reality there are 2 more wires, one is red and the other one is green.
What does the simbol to the left of the distributor means?
It is the same simbol as above the 'gear shift neutral switch'.
Sorry for my newbe questions but I can not find the answers elsewere on the forum.
