How would a pair of AFRs stand up to a set of decently ported edelbrocks??? The ones that i am looking at have already been ported to a "stage 3" port job... They also have a "stage 2"... So would the edelbrocks be better in this case???

go with the elderbrocks for now. if your motor isnt capable of producing the power the extra cash spent on AFRs wouldnt be worth it. go to the track or look on different sites and see what everyone is running and what times. youll see GT40 Y heads in the 10s youll also see AFRs in the 13s, youll also see GTps in the 12s and stockers inthe 11s

so it all comes down to what combo you have and how it works.

Decently ported edelbrock heads will out flow the AFR. Honestly I think AFR's are a little overrated.IMO, edelbrock flow almost as good, and with a port job they will flow the same, if not better. So I would go with the best bang for the buck. which is cheaper.

So how much did they want for the Eddy's? How much did the AFRs cost? Stock for stock the Eddys are just a hair shy of the flow and power numbers that the AFR 165's will make, coupled with the price savings and that's why I got the Eddys. If the guy who worked on those heads knew what he was doing (rather than some DIY fool with a die grinder) and it didn't bump the price too much higher than the AFRs then the Eddys would be the better head. But there's something to be said for getting virgin parts. You wouldn't be disappointed either way you went.
