Default im stumped:(

i have a 1995 cobra that will turn over but not fire....speaking of fire, the ignition module recently caught on fire, so i replaced it and still nothing. most of the ignition system is new(alternator, battery, ignition switch, ignition module, coil, distributor cap and rotor button, starter and sylonoid) i tried running the diagnostic that uses the check engine light and it wouldn't light up, i then tried it using a test light...nothing. has anyone had this problem? should i buy an obd1 code reader?

I bought one last night at autozone for 30 bucks.
If you can see a spark from your plugs then, your wires are crossed somewhere

Sounds stupid, but did you check your fuses? I blew a fuse while trying to hook up a tach a couple months ago (don't ask how lol) and it would turn over all you wanted but it wouldn't fire at all. I checked over everything and was like WTF, then the old man said check your fuses....it was a fuse lol. Just a thought, good luck I hope you can figure it out.

Has the car ran since you did all of that work to it?

^^^^yeah the car ran pretty good up until the fire lol. all of those parts didn't get put on all at one time. but there is no spark at all, and all of the fuses have been checked. im starting to think it may be the wiring harness, because my headlights won't come on either....they seem to be tied in to that harness. i just don't want to waste any more money until i figure it out for sure.

If you no someone that has a used computer or a junkyard nearby, you may want to try that. As for the test light not working and headlights, I don't know if it would cause that or not. It would be worth finding out before getting the computer.
