Default T-5 Fluid Change Question

Since I just bought my 94 cobra I am going to change out the fluid in the T-5. I have changed it out before in my other car so I know it takes ATF, but I was wondering if a certain kind works best. With 106k would it be best to still change it to synthetic or will that screw it up?

Id put regular fluid in it not synthetic. You should see some of the engines I have seen that had synthetic run in them. I'm not a fan of it.

Yea I've heard that if u switch to synthetic in something that had regular in it for a long time it can wash out mineral deposits that were keeping it together, and make it fall apart.

im going to put the expensive sh*t in mine, because thats what Promotion powertrain recommends.

no, they come CNC ported though. I think the long tubes made a pretty significant difference compared to if i would of had the same setup with short tubes, but the tuner could never figure out how to tune the car for them. So the car would have idle surge issues, and die all the time lol. Because u have to change the 02 sensor phase timing since they are further away from the engine with long tubes.

Have you heard of the tomato effect (lets just do it because that is always how it has been done). Synthetic in your motor with those miles might find a leak or two, but synthetic in your t5 is a good idea since the t5 runs a mild synthetic called ATF. ATF doesn't leave the residue that a thicker petroleum based oil like 5/30 does. You won't have any problems running either, you will just extend the longevity of your t5 with synthetic. Up to you.
