Default to big of head?

Are afr 185s too big for a 302? than would they be to small for a turbod 357?

build plan for 302
afr 185s
trick flow track heat intake
... suggestions for nitrous cam?
rebuilt short block
trick flow plate kit

than later on down the road im planing on building a turbod 357 (no stroker) will the 185s flow good enough for that?

I put a setof canfield 195's on a 302 with a custum hydraulic roller. It will hand a buddy's ride with afr 185 on a 306 with a 282 hydraulic roller its a$$. Both cars are 5 spd Fox cars.

The AFR 185 is a great set of heads. MY opinion is they may be a bit large where a for a mild 302 where a 165 would be the better choice. If your engine is getting a bit wild the 185's would do great. They wouldn't be too small for a turbo'ed 357 until you get into some outragous power. The problem here is you are asking for suggestions for two differat engines. The 185 will do a great job on either but may not be optimal for either given the differance of the build. If I had to pick one head to move from build to build it would be the AFR 185.

As far as a Nitrous cam goes you need to know all about the car before picking the right cam even for Nitrous. Engine size, Compression ratio, what size system, gear ratio, transmission and stall if automatic, cars weight with driver etc, etc

as far as the turbo 357, if you want to optimize the potential of the turbos air flow, I would use a bigger head, like an afr 205. Also, like the others are saying, the 165 might be a bit better for a 302 unless your cam and exhaust is pretty radical.

Just my $.02

No and Yes.... but that really depends on your streetability and performance goals... which are?

You could have a 100% daily driver 302 setup with a set of TFS TW 190 "fast as cast" and a custom cam, and run low 11's N/A.

I would do more research. With the propper intake, cam ahd exhaust selection you can make a big head run hard with great street manners in N/A form. This is the way I would choose to go. My reasoning why is that you can now go the power adder route and GROW into the heads you have. Now you do not have to BUY TWICE. Look forward with your build and design it around your future goals.

not with a blower on it.
302s don't need a lot of flow to make good numbers
if you are doing a 357 then at least get some the size of a chevy head
