4cyl tranny work with a 302?
I'm looking at switching my aod transmission to a t5. I have a 1984 GT350 Mustang with CFI. If I find a 4 cylinder doner car for the transmission will the tranny fit and if so what mods are needed?

i believe the gearing is different. like our od on 5.0's is lower and i know that the first is a little steeper to make it easier for the 4 banger to get moving

For what you have described the 4 cyl. tranny will be more than sufficient. The pilot bearring you need is from i belive a 84 'ish ranger with the diesel 4 banger. Its a BCA bearring i do remember that.
Other than the obvious stuff like bell housing, pedals, cables, and such thats about it.
Its been a while since ive seen a GT350 but was that a single exhaust setup or dual?If its dual or atleast has the dual hump cross member it will work just fine as well.Even if it doesnt have the dual hump it will still work but true dual wont be possible.
The 4 cyl. trannies are pretty descent for tooling around the streets. Its when you add high power+sticky tires+powershifting that you get into trouble.I got a buddy with a 308 nothing special in an old fairmont wagon stripped down with a 150 shot a 4 banger T-5 and a set of 4.56's with true slicks and he runs 7.40's in the 1/8 every weekend. Those little T-5's were rugged.
