Default did headlight wire upgrade. got a small problem

i just did the headlight wiring upgrade on my 86 gt per this website that projectresto83 suggested. by the way thankx projectresto83 http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/Wiri...ightRelays.htm
so everything works great. what a difference with just regular ol warner sealed beams. only problem is the headlight lite on the command center stays on. it shuts off when the high beams are on. is there some sort of sending wire that should have been incorporated to the relays? everything works great. just very annoying having that red light on all the time.

often times the bulb out indicators in most cars work off of a resistance value that has been preset and when it doesn't see the two agree = headlight vs set value the indicator comes on......so if you changed the lights to a different style if the bulb out indicator works the way others I have worked on then there may be nothing you can do but unplug it

all right I looked at the stock wiring diagram and you have the light out warning system equipped system and if you cut wires out on the harness out on the connectors that plug into the headlamps, depending on where you made your cuts and rewiring , most likely you cut the headlamp light out warning circuit out of the loop and now the module is seeing an open circuit....S806 is a junction point for the lowbeam side r/bk wire and at junction s804 is where the br/LB wire from the module is tied into the low beam side.......but here is the thing the power circuit which is the r.bk wire that exits the multifunction switch runs a resistance wire and junction s804 is tied into it... you can trie finding the br/lb wire from the module and tie it into the new power circuit you are running but that may not work if the circuit operation for the module is dependent on the resistance wire being in the circuit

Do you have a pic with before and after shots? Glad I could help. I havn't done it to my 83 yet but I am glad to be able to pass on the info. I try to store as much info like that as possible for me and anyone else that might be able to use it. My low beams are dim too. I heard awhile back on foureyepride that it had something to do with the small wires that are used then when I asked no one had a clue but oh well.

I took the information center out of my console once and just never put it back so I won't have that problem when I do it lol.

i cut the r/bk wires at the left front side right where it goes into the loom that runs in front of the rad. thats where i spliced in the relay. those 2 wires turn into 1 about half way to the other side. spliced relay for high beams at the same place which is a g/bk wire. that point is where 3 g/bk wires turn into 1. could you post a pic of the wire diagram mjr46? in answer to your question. i rewired for the sake of brighter lights. and it did improve a bunch. with the 150 amp alternator i just got a little edgy about fire. some of the things i've been reading about power upgrading and the old mustang wiring.
