Did my friend just get ripped off?
Ok, so my friend has a 91 GT and the clutch just went out. He was going to order the Ford Racing King Cobra Clutch kit from AM as seen here:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/kingcobra.html
Part number: Ford Racing M-7560-C302N
I tell him we should look on ebay. We find this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5870&viewitem=
5.0 KING COBRA CLUTCH KIT 4.6 LX GT MUSTANG 1979-2000
Part Number: BD- # M7560C302
Notice the part number is pretty much identical. Well, he buys it and uses my ebay so it comes to me. Today, I get a box containing a Valero clutch kit...WTF??? Now, taking a second look, I do see the "title" listed as this:
79 - 00 VALEO FMS MUSTANG KING COBRA CLUTCH KIT
Now I went to Valeo's website, and according to them:
Valeo has been a key OE clutch supplier to Ford for many years. Most of the manual transmission Mustangs built over the past 20 years, as well as many of the F-Series 7.3L trucks and SHO Taurus, Thunderbird and other vehicles, have been equipped with a Valeo clutch. Currently, Valeo is the production supplier of the twin disc clutch for the Shelby Mustang.
Is this true? What's weird is that stupid part number listed on the auction (and the FRPP number) are not the same on Valeo's site. Also, the auction says this:
Genuine Valeo / Ford Motorsport King Cobra Clutch Kit
Is this really a King Cobra clutch? Do they really make OE's for Ford? Did my friend just get ripped off???

He wants me to ask you guys what your experience has been with it. Idk about you guys, though, but there is nothing on the packaging that I can see that remotely mentions the phrase "king kobra"...

4pc. Kit - Disc, Pressure Plate, T.O. Bearing, Tool
This kit has 60% more clamping force good up to 600HP
15 – 20 Percent less pedal effort compared to a stock ford clutch
thats in the discription of the clutch from Ebay.
so you should be fine.
if you find it to be OEM, get them to replace it with the said "racing" clutch.
they said in there discription that it was a racing clutch, if its not, they have to replace it.
