Default Shorty, Shorty Equal length, or Long Tubes?

been doing some research, and i was wondering what is going to provide the best low end hp and torque to a stock head 95 5.0?

I'm also worried about plug/wire access and it looks as if that may be an issue with the Shorty style, but not the Shorty equal lengths, is that true?

What are your opinions on this, and what brand do you guys recommend as far as price/gain is concerned? Thanks.

for overall performance go with long tube headers
bbk or mac.

will i run into any clearance issues with a long tube header though? i would think it would be less of a concern for plugs/wires, but what about other areas such as starter access, etc.

you will not have any problems removing or installing
the starter.for the top bolt use a long extention from the
front of the vehicle the bottom bolt from under the car.

are you running long tubes? from what i've seen before, the long tubes will give a better low end than the shortys correct? i'm trying to maintain low end streetability. but also dont want to see losses in the upper rpm range.

i have mac long tube headers on my 89 vert with an AOD in it.. and dman... they are a horrible fit on the drivers side... even with teh starter taken out, you havve to pull the tranny out AND bang the header just a lil bit right where it hits the starter.. i broke my starter caus ei didtn see it was hitting..

yes i have mac long tubes, are you aod or standard? if you are
aod you will have more problems then manual from what i
understand.i also have a 95' 5.0 starter in my car it is alot
smaller than the stock starter.

in stock to lightly modded car LT'S provide no extra horsepower because you can't get the rpm up where the headers work best....in automatic cars they heat the transmission up which leads to a failure unless they are wrapped

long tubes arent worth the money on a car under 400hp

now for topend power unequal are better performers

for low to mid power equal lenghts are better performer

unequal still make power but since they are more straight thru design and less bends they flow alot better high in rpms
equal still make topend but since they have bends they slow down the movenment of exhaust gases and will lose some topend

longtubes actually dont produce more topend then unequals. unequal with and off road hpipe is a better set up then longtubes for high rpms. but this theory goes out the door when you start making huge amounts of power and needing the larger diameter pipes. there are no real benefits of running 1 5/8 LTs over shorties. there is actually loses with 1 3/4 LTs with a lightly to mild modded stang

some equal lenghts shorties are a hard fit, i have frpp shorties on my gt and they fit great and plug access is not a problem
