i would have to say if you have a leak then air can get in potentially causing innacurate o2 sensor readings. o2s may be telling the cars ecm hey ive got too much air down here fatten it up up there, causing the car to run rich if thats the problem your having. just my 2 cents.

just a thought a friend of mine had a cheapy summit h-pipe and it always leaked for him, here the nuts were bottoming out on the stud threads and wasent fully tightening the flange against the header collector, i put some spacers in between the flange and nut and presto! no more leaks.

How about I delete your stupid response???? huh???.....the only major inaccuracy, is the fact of trying to install exhaust donuts in a ball and socket self sealing joint...as far as the comment of unmetered air skewing o2 readings and thus possbly causing drivibility issues = possible and correct = NOT STUPIDITY.......A simple koer test can confirm rich/lean condition on the culprit bank....so to the OP CONFRM where the leak is and make sure joints are aligned and properly tightened

well i got me some of those donuts i think i got one of those summit h pipes i dont know it came with the car when i bought it, it sucks i tightened the screws with some lock washers as tight as i can hopefully it dont come loose anymore or get any leaks. And i did run a koer test and i was getting the codes for o2 sensors saying they where reading lean on left and right

Mine did the same exact thing, I actually almost liked it my car sounded like I had a real lopey sound to it but my car smelled like a gas station.

Just get under there and loosen the bolts and make sure the ball is seated right in the seat and tighten those babies down. And if that doesn't work you could always just weld it, except then you're a little more commited to your midpipe/header combo that way.

Or you could pay an exaust shop to take care of it. A shop by my house charged me like ten bucks to tighten take care of the bolts, which to me was totally worth the lack of headache/knuckle bruises. And he let me sit under the car so I could keep an eye on him (I have trouble trusting people with my car, I'd rather leave my girlfriend at a frat house then my car at a shop)....Only sorta serious
