My car weighed 3055 (85 LX Coupe) lbs before I started on it (fully equipted as it came from the factory with spare and 3/4 tank of fuel). I think after I'm done it will be int he 2700 pound range.

so, do you need to buy a rear seat delete kit? or can you just remove the rear seats? I understand it might look crappy but for an imidiate weight reduction?

i dont know what my car weighed stock but i know it was more than 3102 to get it where i am now i have
fiberglass hood
pin on
sound reduction in back hatch and under drivers seat n floorboard same on passenger side, also under back seat
no tail pipes, mufflers then dumps
no spare tire
no jack
weld drag lite skinnies n wides
no smog
i changed to an electric fan it is lighter than stock
no quad shocks
i cant remember anything else right now
i dont know what all of that stuff weighed but i did weigh the sound reduction crap all that i took out weighed 28lbs
so i know ive took more than 50 lbs out cuz the spare tire and jack would take care of that

If your really into ripping and tearing converting the car to manual steering via a flaming river kit will loose all that power steering nonsense. Flamming river claims 30lbs taken off with that. Plus you will gain a horse or two by not having to turn the power steering pump anymore.

I am also converting mine to manual brakes which will loose some weight since no more booster.

ok thanks i was wondering because i was going to take my car sunday to shadyside's test n tune but didnt get done in time but the last time i took the car it went 87mph through the 1/8th which i think is a low 8 second time
but time was 8.80 that stock tires full weight having traction issues i think the car has 8.0 in it with taking out 100+ lbs
if i can come up with some sticky tires
the 8.80 was about 1400-1500 launch
