Default AOD giving out?

About how long will and AOD tranny last? I have a 91 gt with about 135,000 miles on it, and I was wondering how long my transmission will last probably. Mine isn't having any current problems, but I would like to fix it up before it starts quitting on me. Plus I've been doing some work to it, so it will probably need to be rebuilt or swapped. If anyone knows of any good rebuild kit links that would be great. I really have no idea of what I am doing when it comes to transmissions. Thanks.

I don't know when it was last serviced. I bought the car about a year or so ago and haven't done much to it yet. I have put on an exhuast system and restored most of the engine so its in good condition, but thats about it. I'm guessing it hadn't been serviced in awhile.

Yeah I don't know. What do they actually do when they service it?...

I would like to rebuild it though anyways. I just got done pretty much restoring my whole car and making it look good, and the tranny is about the last thing I have left before the engine. I am planning on making my motor to be about 330+ horse within the next few months, so i will need to either rebuild it or swap it anyways. I don't want to make my motor above about 375hp anytime soon, so do I really need to swap it or could I just rebuild it with a kit?

why not just install a trans-go shift kit?

Will that make my tranny be able to handle the extra power? I really don't know what to do when it comes to transmissions.

it might make your bands last a little longer and it will increase shift firmness. best thing to do right now is to install a tranny cooler, and rebuild when it goes out. who knows how long it could last...

the more you modify and add power and the harder you drive it will affect it's durability. I'd add a cooler and a shift kit with maybe some sythetic fluid and you could probably keep on going for quite a while. Eventually if you mod your motor enough the AOD won't be able to handle the power, but for now I'd say you are good.
