Question Do I need a custom chip?

I am finishing up my wife's 93 LE Triple White. It has GT-40X heads, Trick Flow Stage 1 cam, Cobra Intake, 70MM Accufab TB, 73MM C & L Mass Air, 24 lbs injectors, 190 Lph fuel pump, headers, Bassani exhaust w/ OR x-pipe, and 4.10 gears. I will be putting in a Performance Automatic AOD & torque converter with 1800 stall in April. Do I need to have a chip burned for the combo? What would be the effect if I did or did not? Thanks for all the help.

not really, a chip will just optimize performance, as long as your power band now does not exceed the stock 6250 rev limit, you should be okay, put it together and drive it and see how it runs first

It runs great now, though I haven't done a final tune on it yet. Only issue is a surging after it has been doing highway speeds for a little bit, it acts like it doesn't want to slow down, so it chugs a bit at the lower rpms. I thought maybe the chip would address this. Might have to see what else is going on, maybe to much fuel. Any thoughts?

Am about 99.5% sure there are no vacuum leaks. As to a koer test, I am not familiar with that, is that something a Ford tech can do?

Fair enough, what do I need to be able to do the test?
