1982 Mustang GT - opinions wanted
I owned a 1988 Mustang GT back in college. I sold it a few years ago. I miss my Mustang now. I am leaning towards buying a 1982 Mustang GT with the 4-speed/5.0 H.O. I know a guy who has one in stock condition with no mods and he is considering selling it to me. His 82 GT is in mint condition and only has 64,000 miles. If I buy it I will keep it and not modify it I want to keep it in original condition. The '82 body style has really grown on me over the years.
Here's a link to info about the 1982 Mustang GT:

Looking for opinions from anyone familiar with these cars. Would this be a wise purchase or should I instead go for a later fox body 5.0 liter Mustang with fuel injection?

It is my favorite year for the mustang. Last year for the 4 speed I believe. Also the last year for the emblem on the hood which is my favorite part of the car. I agree with 86 5.0L but just a bit different you need 3 of them. 1 stock, 1 modified, and 1 for spare body parts. I think the front end on that car is different then any of the other mustangs???? I could be wrong but either way if it a pony and you can get ahold of it put it in your stable! :-) Hope you get it!

Go for it man!
I'm going this morning to get that 82 GT that I was talking about on here.
This one is all original as well. It has 119,000 miles, but was garage kept and well maintained. Has the original Black paint on it as well.
I'm paying $1,800 which I think is a great deal. The guy I'm buying it from is a Pontiac guy and wants another Trans-Am, and needs money fast, so it's good news for me!
I believe there were only about 24,000 maybe 25,000 cars built that year, which makes it the rarest of all fox body GT's.
4 exterior colors were offered: Red, Bright Red, Black, and Silver
Only 2 interior color choices: Black or Red.
Mine is Black w/ Red interior and a sunroof, w/ air conditioning.
It has a rear window louver, but I'm not sure if it was a factory option.
The 85-86 are my fav body styles, but I prefer the '85 being it's carburated.
The 82 GT shared the same front nose piece as the 79 Indy Pace Car, and the 1980-81 Mustang Cobra.
Good luck man, hope you end up with that car.

82's are great years to modify. They are the true lightweights of the foxes. I'd rather have a 4 eye than a 94-98 anyday.
The only downfall to 82's is if you leave them stock you are stuck with a crap trans, small rear end and not much power.
As for that Plymouth Duster. Rental car for sure. Now the Shelby version of those cars. I'm pretty sure they were faster than Mustangs of that era.
