Default AOD Aggravation

I have a '93 GT with 83,000 miles on it. At around 80,000 miles my transmission shifted into OD one day and the engined just reved. I had the transmission rebuilt with all new bands, clutches, and 0-rings. It happend again at 82,000 miles and I have yet to get it looked at. I moved away from where I had the transmission rebuilt the first time so taking it back is not an option. I can not believe that I fried the gear already!! I have 3:73s so driving with out OD is not really an option. The fluid is not low or burnt. I hear a lot about the TV cable but dont know enough about it to dive right in and start messing with it. If anyone out there can give me some help I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks
Chris

My AOD got messed up after putting in a shift kit. I am totally new to working on one, but I'm "diving in" and rebuilding it (I do have help from someone that's done it before). Some of the repair manuals do have suggestions for TV and also line pressure. The Ford trans rebuild manual has a lot of info. I wish I would've found these books BEFORE the whole mess.

Good Luck
Candice

It sounds like the TV cable gromet is busted, it brakes or wears out and it won't let the cable shift the transmission into overdrive. Be careful driving it without going into overdrive it can burn up your tranny. Go to your local Ford dealer and get some new ones. They come two to a package and only cost a few dollars. This has happened to me twice on my wifes Merc and my brothers 91' Crown burned up, cost him about $1200 to have it fixed.
It is a easy fix, be sure to put some oil or W-D40 on it to make it easier to push on.
