Default K-Member

Within the last two years, I have replaced the following:

Entire Suspension, Motor, Exhaust, rebuilt and upgraded the rear axle, rebuilt the tranny on its own separate occasion, and NOW

Now, I wanna replace the Steering rack, along with all the bushings and tie rods, and the steering shaft. Also, I'm not pleased with my Steeda Caster/Camber plates, and I wanna get the MM plates. BUT, I'm angry as hell because BY NOW I should have already replaced the K-member.......

How hard is it to replace this down the road? Do people ever decide, hmm, today I feel like replacing my K-member..... Sounds like to me everything but the axle has gotta come out...

when you pull the steering and do all the front suspension you should just pull the engine, especially if the tranny is out, and just pull the k-member and replace it with a tubular, you save up to 70lbs on the front end. plus it stiffens yo ride. the throw some subframe connectors in and call it a day, lol. all this is IMO, if I was gonna do the front bushings and everything and had the cash I would toss in a new k-member and then do suspension and so on and so forth

This has all the stuff you want. Im goin with this setup when my engine finally craps on me.

I gotcha. well in order to change K-member you are gonna have to pull the engine anyways, or at least jack in up with a cherry picker and drop the k-member out the bottom. either way its a little project to keep you busy.

good luck with whatever you choose

Swapping the K member is a Big job inless your a Pro at working on these cars and have done it before. You would Definately need to pull the engine out to replace the K Member. You could swap it out by just lifting the engine up with an engine hoist after you remove the motor mount nuts but this is definately not the way I would recommend doing it.

Well, the K-member bolts right into place and theirs only one place for it to go, just like the motor - theirs only one place for it to go - I don't feel outmatched.. theirs no aligning or anything, right?

im pretty sure there is aligning that needs to be done.. i feel that if you put it in and dont align it properly the car would drive crooked or something...try and find the thread where pro50 did his install, lots of pics and what not...but def sure you need to align it
