pinch bolt on rack
 

replacing leaky rack...I've got everything unhooked but rack won't bust loose from steering shaft as far as i know pinch bolt was only bolt to take off of the shaft (haynes repair book)....a little help please

anyone??

Unhook it from the fire wall that might help and try to take a flat head screw driver or small pry bar and spread the steering shaft where it pinches to the rack.

I soak it with PB BLASTER AND use a pry bar and a block/wedge for leverage

Got it off today...used brake cleaner and tapped up on the steering shaft ,finally broke loose...i'd rather get paper cuts between my toes than have to take another one off...

coat the splines on the new one with anti-sieze for ease of removal if there ever is a next time:)
