Default 89 Stang Engine Removal

Hi all,

I am in the final phases of removing the engine from an 89 LX. I don't know what is the best way to remove the engine...Can someone tell me the sequence of removal. I have disconnected the clutch, removed the starter motor. Which bell housing bolts do I remove...the rear ones or the front ones by the engine?

Do I have to take the clutch fork out? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks Bryan,

why not pull it as an unit, (motor and trans together) iv always found it to be the simplest way, just tilt the motor back as you pull it out to clear the rad suport / firewall

I agree, take it out as one unit , I recently took out my motor to do my oil pump and some other things its quite easy to take it out as one.

I agree as well Just try to plug the tail shaft and the speedo cable hole so you don't dump all the fluid on the way out.
Thats how I did mine.

1st thing is to mark all hoses ,brackets, wires, so when you install it will be a breeze

It isn't too bad with the engine hoist....I did it for the first time with the help of my welding friend and we got it out...if you have good tools it will come out pretty quick
