first time rear axle difficulties: have mercy
me and my older brother were installing a brand new trac loc on 91 fox with 3.73 gears 8.8 rear. we greased all the bearings inside the axle but a very high source from allsouth autosports said that was a terrible mistake and they suggested master overhaul im running on a budget though and can't afford another obsticle like that. if anyone have any suggestions please inform me

if all you did was pull the diff apart to put the trac loc clutches in there and you changed no other aspects then you should be fine. If you pulled any of the bearings off (like the carrier bearings and the pinion bearing) then you should replace them.
The main thing in your case assuming you didnt pull the carrier bearings off of the Carrier, is to make sure you put the races that those bearings were on back in the same location and in the same orientation, because a bearing wears to a race. Also you want to make sure you torqued the Carrier Caps back to 70 ft lbs. I believe that is the correct torque spec. It may be 90 ft lbs.

If you put grease in the bearings in a differential you are in way over your head on that install. Take it to someone who can build a rearend and do it right before you have to buy a ring and pinion, new clutches and pay the labor. I'm all for the DIY'ers but sometimes you need to know what your limitations are before it really cost you. The grease won't hurt the bearings but I know you guys didn't get that install right and it will ruin the clutches in the trac-loc and you have a 1 out of 1,000 shot the backlash is within spec
