what do you guys think of this build
Hey i changed my build setup again. im looking at a 331 build.
Forged steel crank 3.250
forged rods
forged pistons with a small dish
and a 58cc head
i calculated my compression to be 9.5:1 or very close to that.
Would a build like this get me near 350hp? and would leaving my compression there allow for boosting later? through a super charger? I know just on that info HP are impossible to tell but everything is going to be replaced or rebuilt and its goin to be a carb setup. its going to be around 4k for the the bottom and top halves. any input would be great. thanks

heads are too small , cam wrong and intake if using an rpm air gap on a 347 you'd need some serious port work(I'll get back to you on that one..lol) got a special place doing such

I'd go with a set of AFR 185 heads. They are proven high quality really nice flowing heads right out of the box. and even though I've never had a set in my hands I hear good things about the Trick Flow "fast as Cast" 190's. But what you really need to figure out what you want to do with your engine. You don't want to build a carbed street engine and design it around a turbo or blower set up later down the road that may never happen. Make a plan and stick to it. Even though they build blow through carbs it sure wouldn't be my first choice for forced induction. Unless you are an excellat carb tuner you want to avoid the carbed setup where a blow through carb is used. If you want a carbed blower setup put the blower under the carb.
If this is going to be a carbed set-up for a good while bring that compression ratio up. You will just be giving away power that was so easy to obtain. On an aluminum headed small block you can run 10.5 without a problem. Mine is 11.0 and can run on 91 octane. You just need a tight quench area. A cam that makes power where you will use the car most and matches the weight, drivetrain and intended goals of the car.
If you want an engine to put a blower or turbo plan out the build with the blower or Turbo and build it all at once. You don't want to try to build the same engine for both uses. You will either end up with a very poor performer or an engine that will grenade under boost.
Id rethink the 331 on a carbed engine. I like the 331 under big boost but on a carbed engine go for as many cubes as safely possible.
Bottom line is you really need to think it out and make a decision on what engine you really want and make a plan. You can't have it both ways and expect good results

367 is sitting on a dyno with no accessories and or hooked to a drive train so once you bolt it in and hook all accessories up ad lets say your auto then gauranteed that 367 ends up equating into 267 rwhp
