Default Oil Pressure Sensor question???

Does the original oil pressure sensor have to remain on the motor when I'm installing a new one with after-market gauges??

Does the computer take any information from this or can I leave the old wire wrapped up on the side??

I have a stock '92 5.0 from a Mustang in a '67 Bronco, computer is an A9L. Manual trans.

Thanks in advance!!
