Default idle speed adjustment

hey, newbee here! Got an 89 gt with some mods done. I just installed some march under drive pullys (3 piece) and their great. I'm getting some charging problems @ low rpms(like at idle). I need to find out how to adjust the idle speed higher. This is my first mustang and I'm not sure how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Default idle speed adjustment

Idle speed is adjustable through a hex key screw on the top of the throttle body on my 5.0, and I'm assuming that it's something they wouldnt change. I cant remember which way is faster or slower, but you'd do yourself justice to go pick up a haynes rebuild catalog from Autozone, it tells you everything you need to know for everything possible. hope that helps.

Default idle speed adjustment

Thanks 95stealth, I've got a haynes manual but it didn't really say how to do it and being from a little hick town in canada doesn't help for info on some things. I'll give it a shot and see if my charging rate goes up. The guy @ March Performance said to put the rpm's up from 550 to 650-675(@idle)

ok. so put the car in the shop tonight and bought a new altenator for it but the idiot gave me the wrong one and i realized to late to return it. So i put the oem alt. pulley back on and put a smaller belt on. also installeda fresh batt. Charging at 14.4 to14.6 so thats good. But i think if i put the underdrive alt pully back on and keep the smaller belt it would probably keep a constant charging rate at idle.

whadda guys think?

Also have alot of draw on the batt at idle with stereo and lighting components but its always been that way. any ideas (other than stiffing cap on stereo)?

if you put the new u/d pulley back on and keep the same belt, the belt will not fit as it will be to long. we changed all but the alt. pulley on my buddy's t-bird and we had to go to autozone 3 times before we got the right length belt. if i were you, i would just leave the stock alt. pulley on because regardless of brand of pullies, when you change the alt. pulley you are guaranteed to lose your stock charge. hope this helps.
