Suspension LX 5.0
Hello im new to these threads. I just acquired a 1990 mustang LX and it has lowering springs installed on it and it needs new struts. I have decided to replace the front struts and rear shocks. I have no idea what kind to get . I need some advice. When I drive the car and i go through dips in the roads the tires rub and that is one thing i would like to fix with this upgrade. any help would be greatly appreciated. I plan on ordering them today off the internet so hopefully they will be here by the weekend so i can install them saturday.

Do you have any idea what kind of springs are on the car? Where are your tires rubbing?
Do you have stock caster camber plates? They are where the struts bolt onto the fender wells. It's pretty much mandatory that you get aftermarket caster camber plates with different front suspension parts. Otherwise the car will never be aligned correctly. That may be the reason for your tires rubbing...
What's your budget? I got some KYB gr2s because they are pretty cheap and better than stock. You should get some caster camber plates which are gonna be around 200, unless you have them.

i have FRP 5300c springs which lowered the car about 1 1/4 or so. I did not get the caster camber plates and they had no problem aligning it, however the first time they set the toe a little too neutral so it wanted to follow every crack in the road with the 255/40/17 inch tires on it. I had them toe it in just a hair and once the new springs and poly bushings wore in, its much better. it was a bit of a handfull for a couple weeks though...
