Default Calipers??? MM line inlet???

I'm going to order new calipers from DiscBrakesRUS but I'm having problems figuring out which ones belong on my application. I sent them emails and they have the most horrendous customer service I've ever experienced - they've replied quickly, but never answered my questions correctly...lol. Here is what they have available...

http://www.discbrakesrus.com/make/fo...1987199855.htm

My car has the 4 cylinder setup and I'm going for the 5.0 V8 setup. I have the following already: V8 spindles, dust shields and 11" rotors. I know I need 60MM bore calipers but I don't understand what they mean by this and I really want their product...

1987-93 10mm line inlet 60MM bore Caliper Set (Front Wheels)
1984-93 12mm line inlet 60MM bore Caliper Set (Front Wheels)

Someone please tell me which set I need.

You can use either one. For whatever reason, Ford decided to install two differant calipers, with two differant size inlet holes. If you're replacing existing calipers and want to use the same lines, then it matters. But if you're upgrading, you'll also be buying new lines. Just buy the lines that match the calipers and you'll be fine.

Since you're buying new calipers, have you considered the 73mm SVO parts?

BTW, I'v done business with them a number of times over the last few years. Always had good customer service.

Thanks Bob - you don't understand how helpful you've been. I don't mean like bad customer service in that way - I should've rephrased my words. They're great but not as a elaborate as I would like.

So, what you mean is if I get the 12MM line inlet 60MM bore calipers all I have to do is buy the 12MM line inlet stainless steel lines and they will fit my 1987 LX 4 cylinder stock setup? Or will the 4 cylinder hard brake lines not work? Sorry for the newbie questions but I truly am a newbie and don't know how the braking system works. I'm concerned then that maybe the SS brake line from the caliper to the 4 cylinder hard brake lines wont work...but again, I don't know what connects where or how so I can totally not make any sense right now...

Regarding the SVO parts - I really don't want to change master cylinders, rear brakes, etc... I just want a stock V8 5.0 NEW setup. Thanks for your help - you're the best!

The connection at the end of your hard lines is the same for all mustangs. Probably the same for all Fords, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, just tell them at DBRU that you need matching hoses, and they'll send them too.

As for the 73mm SVO calipers, they use the same MC and lines as the 60mm calipers. Nothing to change that you're not already changing. The calipers really are a direct bolt on swap. The bigger piston applies more pressure to the pads = better stopping power. Since it's a factory part, you won't have any trouble getting parts.

I would DEFINITELY go for the 73MM calipers but I don't understand why Maximum Motorsports lists the following on their page under the description...

Best used in conjunction with a rear disk brake conversion kit, and our SVO master cylinder, BMC-1. Not recommended for use with rear drum brakes.

I can't afford to change my drum brakes at the moment. Any idea why they list that?

The Mustang was usually equipped with front disc and rear drums. The SVO had four wheel discs. You need a differant MC for each set up. If you eve upgrade the rears to discs, then you'll need to change the MC.

This is the response I received from Maximum Motorsports when I asked them if I can use the SVO 73MM brakes with my stock rear drum brakes system...

"If you have the 1987-93 V8 spindles, dust shields and 11" rotors, then these
SVO components will bolt right on.

In order for the 73mm SVO front calipers to function correctly, you will
need rear disk brakes that are comparable to the 1984-1986 SVO (54mm rear
caliper with an 11.375" rear rotor). Rear drum brakes will not work. Without
large rear disk brakes, the SVO front brakes will actually hurt performance
and result in excessive front brake lockup and rotor warpage.

I am not too familiar with 4cyl Mustangs. I am not sure if the master
cylinder will bolt right up. V8 mustangs require an adapter kit (part#
MMBAK-2)."

I guess I'm going to stick with a NEW 60MM setup. I really don't want to be messing with anything else at the moment ($$$). Maybe in the future I'll upgrade my braking system to something entirely different.
