Default 65mm to 70mm Throttle Body

I was watching Hot Rod TV and they had a '93 Mustang that they proposed like 8 mods that totaled less than $1,500 that will get an additional 50+hp.

I have a bone stock '93 5.0 in my '66 Coupe. I thought about getting a new 70mm throttle body. Does anyone know if this will work or do I need to get a new intake? Will upgrading to a 70mm give me a performance increase?

You do not need a different intake for a 65 or 70mm throttle body swap. Most guys with minor modifications will go with a 65. There is not a huge difference between 65 and 70 anyway.

Regarding the upper intake: I believe the stock upper intake opening is just about 65mm, so if you go with a 70mm, you will have some restriction unless you port match the intake to the TB.

Thanks. Is the throttle body something that should be changed eventually due to mileage and wear? If so, then I can just put a new 65mm on there.

65mm is more than enough for a stock 5.0

I wonder why 3.9L V8 Ford engines use a tapered 82mm-69mm TB OEM then? ....

Why?..... aren't both 4-cycle otto engines? ..... what makes one so special over the other?
