Default Good or Bad Idea??

Is it a good or bad idea to buy a set of used #24 injectors? I mean I know new is the way a person should go but considering that I'm building on a budget, would it be a bad idea to go with a used set?

In case someone wonders, my build in very mild.

Only if you know the car they were in and the person selling them. Stay away from Ebay on injector purchaces. Lots of time they have been sitting open in a box a good while before the person decides to sell them.

Oh ok. Yeah I was looking on ebay and there were some in there that looked really good in the picture and the current bid was $40 with 7 hours to go. I was just thinking that $40 versus almost $200 is a hugh differance and wondering if it would be worth getting them.

Just wondering........ what does leaving them open in a box do?

I wouldn't buy them used unless you know the car/person...and only if you really need them!

So if I understand what you guys are saying, anytime a person removes injectors from thier motor, they should just throw them away because they are no longer any good since they will be sitting outside the motor?

Also....Is there a way to check them outside of the motor to see if they are good?

You can take them to NAPA and get them cleaned and (rebuilt?) for like $100.

I'm still not grasping the concept behind why you guys say they go bad by just sitting in a box. If they are working just fine when they are removed from the motor and a person sticks them inside a box, why are they all of a sudden no good? I mean, aren't they shipped in a box? Are they bad because gas has ran threw them? Is the gas what makes them bad. If so, can't you just blow all the gas out of them before storing?
