Hmm..
Ok.. So what if the battery is completely dead. It gets jump started and has enough power to run.. But like nothing else worked.. Like if i tried to roll my windows up(power windows) it would almost stall the car out while on the freeway. The lights didnt work or nothing. The gas gauge literally went from a quarter tank to completely running out of gas and stalling it on the freeway.. We got the car to a gas station and got 10$ in gas which was about 3.7 gallons. The car wouldnt start which meant the battery was dead so we jump started it again. Got it home and it stalled again. so we just pushed it into the driveway.
That was about a week ago. NOW after some new plugs and a 35 hour deep cycle battery charge. I looked at the gas gauge and its reading alittle over a half a tank. Which brings me to this question. Is the gas distributing and gas gauge operated by the battery? Because 3.7 gallons would have meant the tank would be about 1/4 full. Also the 2 gallons i put in before i drove the car and the little over 1/8 of a tank i swore it had before i put the gas in. So that would equal out to about what it has now. So I didn't run out of gas on the freeway but the gas gauge still read empty.
Sorry if this doesnt make any sense.. It doesnt even make any sense to me.

When your car is running your gauges are basically being run off the alternator, the battery should be getting charged by the alt. To me it sounds like your alt isnt charging right. Take it off and take it to autozone/advanced/checker and have them check it, they will do it for free. If its shot, do the 3G upgrade IMO. You will never have a charging problem again.

Thats what i originally thought.. But after charging the battery.. Everything seems to be in working order.. All the lights/windows/radio/sub and amp/gauges work fine now. Starts up fine. Its just when the battery was dead.. Nothing was working properly. What are signs that the alternator is going?

One of the easiest test is to take a DVOM and see if you have above 12.6 volts on the battery terminals with the car running.
Thats only a voltage test not an amperage test. For that you need to take it to a parts store to be tested. Advance can do it without taking the alt out.

^^^^actually if you set the dvom to amps and turn on all accessories, ie ..lights, radio wipers,a/c blower motor, and anything else you have in there that draws current you can semi-simulate a load on the alt and see if any output occurs
