rear sway bar

my buddy bought a 86 gt and we were looking at it and it has no rear sway bar? there are no brackets or anything, did they came like that or did someone remove it and cut the brackets off? does anyone run without one? just wondering wether to leave it or fix it

I took mine off and havent noticed any negative side effects.....
