Question wiring help!alt head light issues

k guys, im lost on this one. the prob im having is when i turn my headlights on the guages go all crazy and the fuel pump primes high beam light and both blickers also come on the dash. this happens even w/ the key on or off, the car had a wire tuck done about 2 months ago and theres zero issues w/ it since.
ideas? i know its a short some where, the first time it happend i checked the alt, it was bad , put a brand new one in and it has the same problem, i had the new alt tested and its good. any ideas? where should i start?

could it be the headlight switch? igition?

That sounds like more than just one wire grounding out. I would first check to make sure the starter solenoid is wired correctly. Then go to your fuse box and make sure that it isnt cracked and arching through to all the wires. I had a headlight switch crack and my headlights went crazy if I hit a bump because of arching. While you are at your fuse box make sure everything is tight and there are no bare wires showing. Thats where I would start. This is just an idea of where I would start and what I would do.
