intake manifold questions

6 hours?! For an upper intake? Ummm they must be taking an hour break every 20min of work. Now if they're doing upper and lower I can see 6 hours. But 6 hours to do just the upper intake, that's ridiculous. You can do it yourself easy. Just know round peg round hole.

you can do a lot with 2gs but for your setup i would have to agree with Rinchesta. I have pretty much the same stuff and when you do it all at once you see a nice power gain. Do it yourself, take your time and make sure its right. Learn something about your car and save yourself some money. you'll find out its not that complicated.

this plus full exhaust and minor bolt-on's.
you can do all the work in a weekend if you have EVERYTHING you need, and such.
I pulled my head's and had them rebuilt, and id never done much more then a oil change before.
the hardest part is just leaning over the car for that long, haha.
just remember to bag and tag everything, take picture's, i ziptied wire's and emmissions tube's out of the way for more room, etc.
if i where you, just save your pennies, find deal's on part's, let them pile up, and when your on break, or what ever you have, just swap what you can.
head's and intake are pretty easy, i myself have never installed a cam, but most the time on these car's youll end up snapping a few bolt's, and that in itself can take way more time then anything else.
good luck.

for steet use, the explorer or cobra intake is the way to go. I got my explorer intake for $190 and it cost me about $100 for gaskets, t stat, coolant, and intake vacuum hoses.
I took me 10 hours total, but i did valve cover gaskets and the lower intake gaskets were corroded on badly and cleaned like mad, so that ate up alot of time. I would suggest like others have and do heads and cam at the same time, if you plan on doing so.
