Default 86 mustang 5.0 302

Hi i have a friend just bought an 86 t top with a blowen motor he has a 84 ford f150 with a 302 in it just wondering what it will take to put that motor in the mustang? can you switch the intakes? can you just run the carb? can you run the fuel pump on the mustang? will we run into any computer problems not haveing everything hooked up? will we run into any trans problems not haveing the computer hooked up? thanks for all answers in advance.!!

first off the 302 in the truck has like 130HP, compared to the H.O. motor in the mustang(200HP)

you're better off finding a junkyard H.O. and sticking it in there

if you want to try swapping, you'll need to replace the cam and intake, and im sure theres other stuff missing

it has a different cam and I think the comp. was raised a little and the H.O. block is hyd. roller and timing is like a 351

Yes, but the 84 and older HO aren't roller.

Is the 86 carbureted or fuel injected? If it is fuel injected the cam in the 84 will not work with the EFI it has a different firing order, meaning the injectors will be operating at the wrong time. The 84 block is NOT a roller and the 86 is a roller. To just to get it running you could use the 84 as it is, if the 86 is carbureted. You could still use the 84 with the EFI if you swapped out the cam for a stock 351 FT cam. Now the 84 will be severely down on power due to the low compression. Personally this is something I would not do. Like it was said before, your best bet is to tear down the 86 block find out what is wrong and go from there.
