Idling problem
Hey guys, looking for some suggestions. My 94 mustang GT runs good sometimes, but other days it has an idling problem. I’ll be sitting at a light and the RPMs will go between 500-1000. And the battery meter also jumps back and forth. Took it to the shop got a new alternator, but still got the problem. Tested the battery and its fine, and a new alternator. Any suggestions? Thanks.

How do the battery terminals look? Gunk build up on those can contribute to that. Also I would try changing your idle air control or cleaning it. What does your car have as far as mods? Longtubes on 94-95 5.0s can cause that as well, cause our computers are a bitch.

my 89' has the same problem. i just cleaned the **** out of my terminals, and replaced the (wow brain fart can't think of the word) positive and negative hookups i guess it'd be called? lol. I have long tubes as well, but its not a 94-95 computer... and isn't there some special way to clean the IAC? and where is the IAC sensor? thanks

Well, got so frustrated I took it to the shop. They cleaned the Mass air flow sensor, and throttle body. Which I already did, but I didnt have a security torx bit 20 used to remove the sensor. So needless to say my cleaning job wasnt as good as theirs. $50 later learned my lesson, but cant complain, car runs like a champ now. As the instructions on cleaning the MAF say, using a oil based filter causes the filter to get dirty.
