cam swap = brake issues!!!
okay guys heres the situation. i have just rebuilt my motor. we used all new parts except for the crank, rods and pistons. we re-used those. everything else in the bottom end is new. i changed the cam from a b-303 to a NX-274-HR, the nitrous blower grind. the problem is that my brakes are hard as hell to push. it feels like when you change your brake pads and your bleeding the air out of the lines. you know when you push them until they get stiff and wont go anymore. well thats what they feel like. besides that the car is an automatic. i have a 3200 stahl that i added into the mix as well, but the brakes are hard and it still wants to pull. could it be the passing gear cable or what? the stahl i bought was used. it has a drain plug, so i dont think its stock but still not sure either. do stock ones have drain plugs? can anyone help me? someone in town has said that the brakes could be caused by not having enough vacuum, does that make sence?

You could have a very large vacuum leak. I had the same problem when I installed my TFS-1 cam into my car. The car wouldn't brake. It's like I had lost all of my power brakes. I had a very large vacuum leak coming from the lower-upper intake manifold. Just a thought.

time to get the ol'vac gauge out and see what you find..
where on the intake is the vac hose for the brakes hooked too.
also check the vac tree and all vac sources/hoses...then you got the check valve on the brake booster...

well let me explain some more info here. i was gonna use taller valve covers, with an Edelbrock Victor EFi intake. well the throttle cable was rubbing the valve cover, so i tried to whittle away from the black box looking thing that holds the cable in place. so now i know i have to replace the cable and i have one to re-place it with. would that have an effect on the car trying to pull while in gear?

well i cant post pics on this computer. anyway i ended up reusing my old valve cover on the passenger side so the cable would fit properly until i can get a intake spacer. but since i whittled away the black box thing on the passing gear cable, enough to where the plastic pin that holds the block and the cable in place has come out, would that effect anything besides how the tranny shifts?

I just replaced my gasket and tightened the intake down according to Chilton's. But you need to first verify where your vacuum leak is coming from. You may be able to even hear it. As for your stall, I do not think that will affect the problem. I too have a 2800 PI stall(I got my cam to work with the PI's stall range. The stock cam wouldn't work and made the car run way slower)

well we had problems getting my intake bolts to torque to the right specs. so the ones that didnt torque we replaced with the old bolts and they torqued just fine. do you think that the ones we were trying to use could have possibly stretched alittle and is causing a vacuum leak?
