Default engine loses power and dies

new to board and don.t know if this has been covered.About 2 weeks ago engine lost power and would start to die.Engine seemed to be choking.Iwould pull over let car sit for 5 minutes and it would start and sound fine.About 2 miles down the road same thing.Thought maybe converters but muffler shop said they were holled out.Car is 88 gt,stock engine, aod. It ran fine for the lasty 2 days until the ride home last night and same thing again.I changed the fuel filter last wed and thought that had cured problem.Any help would be appreciated!

Bad gas?

Seems odd that it'd just die like that.

Oh. Perhaps fuel pump?

After I replaced the fuelfilter pressure at rail was 32 psi. When I turn key on I can here the pump running. When the car shuts down and I let it sit for a few minutes it seems to be fine and after a couple of miles it starts acting up again.

Your TPS is bad, change it, gauranteed to be the problem. If you have over 90000miles on it, thats the best guess, those things wear out really quick.
