Default electric fan???

My 94 gt runs at 210 degrees and doesnt move. Is that where they should be running at because i put a 160 thermostate in it and it still runs at 210 degrees. And my electric fan wont turn on and i jumped it to see if it worked and it ran fine and with no sqeaks... Does anyone know what sensor turns the electric fan on and does your guys's 94 gts run at 210?? Thanks for your help.

im not a sn-95 guy, but to help with your fan problem, id cut the wires and run them to a toggle switch. that way once you start your car, flip the switch and the fans will be running non stop. it shouldnt drag your charge level down, and itll run alot cooler. as far as the actual temperature of 210, couldnt tell you. it may be a bad thermostat, or someone gave you a 210 thinking it was a 160, has happened to me before. buy a 160 and they give you a 210. so double check that and re-wire your fans.

SN95 EEC turns the fan using the input from the coolant temp sensor (ECT) in low speed @208°F and off @204°F. IOW.... 210°F is normal op temp.

Hmm, could your rad be bad? Im running the stock t-stat w/ a somewhat new rad and flex a lite fan(yeah its going to be replaced with efan soon cuz they explode). IDK if my stat was replaced by the previous owner or not... but I run a constant 180.

When you jump the fan, does it pull the temperature down?

Rewiring the fan to come on with the key is bad advice. You are eliminating all the advantages of having an electric fan.

If the radiator was bad, the fans would be on trying to cool it down.

Forcing the fan on only tells you the fans work. Something needs to tell the computer to turn the fans on. That's the temperature sensor. When the computer sees the numbers that Joel posted, it supposed to energize the fan relay.

Why the 160 t-stat? I was under the impression that the 180 is perfectly fine.

I just got finished installing a new rad. and twin electric fans, and the relay/control that came with my fans had a 3/4" npt sensor that screwed into the therm. housing, or in some cases the radiator, and it was adjustable to come on when you wanted it to. also was able to either run it to a toggle switch (which i did) or into the ac clutch so when the ac was on the fans would, which that would help you keep a stock look with no switches inside
