What do you think of this setup???
There is a mustang for sale that I am checking out. Here is some info on it:
The car has over 700 Horsepower!!!!! Vortec Mondo Supercharged, Brand NEW 342ci Stroker Engine with 1 Mile. Engine Consist OF the following: New Ford Motorsports Block, Scat Stroker Crank, Manly H Beam Rods, Ross Pistons, Studded Mains with Gurdal, ARP Fastners/Hardware, AFR Aluminum Heads, Ford MotorSports Roller Rockers, Ford Motorsports Roller Camshaft, Canton Oil Pan, Meling High Volume Oil Pump, Cobra Match Ported Upper and Lower Manifold, Holly Throttle Body, Proflow Technologies Fuel Management System, Edlebrock Water Pump, Vortec Fuel Rails and Injectors, Aeromotive fuel regulator, fuel pump, and fuel filter, MSD Ignition with Boost Retard, MSD Two Stage Rev Limiter And Coil, Ford MotorSports Aluminum Radiator with electric fans, BBK Shorty Headers and BBK Downpipe with Flow Master Exhaust.
The Drive Train Consist of the following: C4 Automatic Transmission, B&M Manuel Valve Body with Pro Shift Stick, 3000RPM Stall Convertor, Aftermarket Flywheel, Aluminum Driveshaft with Driveshaft Safety Hoop, 8.8 Rear End Diffrential with 350 Gears installed, Also have 410 Gears and rear end Gerdal, Toms Axels Rear with 5/16 Studs, Four Wheel Disc Brakes with 5 lug conversion.
the car was built as a sleeper with the stock hood, but ran mid 9 second quartor miles with a stock 302. I just finished build a brand new stroker motor and the car feels WAY FASTER!!!!!
I am going to ask for timeslips, but what do you guys think? Will that car really run low/mid 9's??? Will the engine block take that power? Is this a good setup? Worth the $$$?
I am trying to find a nice 9 second mustang that can still be street driven (ferrari eater lol). This a good buy?
Let me know!!!

How much he asking? 700 HP sounds like alot for the street. You can almost count on cooling issues when street driven. Do you know the engine builder is he reputable? Are you a hard core mechanic? cause it's gonna be high maintainance. To be honest, it sounds like youd be better off building a car with 400 HP that would be much more streetable.
P.S. doesn't 700 HP gooing through an 8.8 diff sound a bit risky?

I want somthing that is "street legal" and will still be able to run on the street. It is going to mainly be a 1/4 mile car. Brother has a 450 HP modded Vette, I drive it often, want something with a little more power. 9 sec 1/4 are the goal.......

Well I have a buddy who has a very nice Notch that runs 8.70's on a small N2O shot and mid 9's motor only. It is still street legal and drivin on the street from time to time. The car is fully NHRA legal and is one of the cleanest Stangs you will ever see, plus it is still running fuel injection. He would take $28000.00 for it and that includes the open trailer I think. But you should realize that there is a huge amount of maintenace that goes along with cars like this, once you start running nine's it is a whole different world than a 450 hp Vette. These cars have the ability to literally go on the bumper and if you don't know how to handle it, major damage will follow. My advise is to build your car and work your way up, just jumping into a 9 sec. could be asking for trouble. To answer a few of your questions, yes a Ford NMotorsport block will hold that kind of power. The combo looks good, I don't like the 8.8 but it might be ok with all the parts it has. The thing that I don't like is the claim of 9's on a stock 302, that sounds like BS to me. Whatever you do make sure to get proff of everthing, time slips, dyno sheets, recipts for all the parts and machine shop work. If the seller can't provide all the info you ask for, be very suspisous. Good luck though and let me know if want pics or info on my buddies car.

Thanks for the response!!! I have done some racing a few years ago, and saw low 9's while driving buddy's tubbed camero. Your friends car sounds very impressive, but is a little more than I am looking to spend right now.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Thats cool, at first it sounded like you did'nt have much seat time. I would give that car you asked about a serious look, but be carefull thats all, lots of jerks out there looking to rip you off.

Heheheh, no problem. I am sure there are a ton of people who have honda civics looking to get a 1500+ HP twin turbo setup for daily driving What can you do?
I am definitely will be careful. It seems like there is a shrinking number of honest people selling cars. I want a true 9 second car...so they better have the receipts to prove it
