quick AOD question

My overdrive band is burned up in my trans and I was wondering if I buy a new kevlar od band can I just install that by itself or do I have to rebuild the whole trans?

if your going to rip it down enough to replace the overdrive band you might as well rebuild whats worn. kits are cheap if your doing it yourself.
