4banger Turbos vs. 89 Mustang

well now that we know you have heads and a cam installed, then definitely, go to the boost. boost is great. like the one person said, B&G's stage I is $2500. just checked it out, looks like the only thing youll need would be injectors, because the kit doesnt come with them. other than that though, seems like a well thought out kit: http://bgturbokits.com/store/index.p...products_id=43

Just to throw it out there, I've run a 94 Mustang sense 2001, minor mods but my SRT4 with the same amount of money in it would walk all over the mustang, and a lot of other cars that are faster then that. For example I took out a terminator one night 3 times before on a roll then got lost by 3 cars on the 4th race, from a light that time.
My suggestion is just make a car you enjoy driving and not worry too much about losing to a turbo4.

Hehehe I'm not impressed. If you lived where I was you'd know the cars people hotrod. Most are just bolting on a turbo and getting a greddy exhaust. Unless mommy and daddy give them more money. I just want mine faster. You wanna see a real 4banger that doesnt look like a dragster check out John Sheperd. From around where I live.

right now I do have a bigger cam in it. .512/.512... dont have the lift on it with my at the moment but I know its almost as much if not as much lift as you can get. GT-40 heads. Cold Air Intake. Adjustable rocker arms. Sum tuning and that's about it. He only beat me by half a car length, but it's how quick he caught up is what I didn't like. I have an edelbrock upper intake manifold to install and want to get a 70mm TB. I was thinking of just getting the basic 5-6psi boost S/C and 24lb fuel injectors. AND 4.10 gears in the rear. That's pretty much what I was looking at doing but wasnt sure if that would be enough. So I was looking at the NOVI 2000 High Boost. Lemme know.

Racing a turbo car from a rolling start in a naturally aspirated car is asking to get your but kicked!. His turbo was partially spooled, so he pulled on you from the get go. If he only beat you by 1/2 car length, race him from a dig and you'll more than likely smoke him (if you have decent tires and can drive). You could always throw a 100 shot on you car, and you'll beat him power adder for power adder, but if you got the cash, hey, throw a turbo on it!.

I'd have to disagree about racing a turbo car from a roll. An n/a engine doesn't ever have to wait for a blower to spool, as soon as you whack the throttle you have all of your power on tap. Depending on how the turbo car is set up it may or may not be in a position to make full power. It's going to come down to how each individual car is set up. In the end racing any car that has a higher power to weight ratio than you from a roll isn't going to go well.

If you want a 10 second quarter car, then I'd skip the supercharger and bolt on a turbo. Not that an SC can't do it, but it will be easier with a turbo. And don't expect what you have now with a 6lb Novi to even come close(low 12's...maybe). You'll need a stronger suspension to handle the load. A stronger shortblock will be in order too. My cousin ran 10.4's@134 with a 347, Vortech, and a 100shot + all the supporting stuff.
