I'm having trouble with my 89' lx. It wont let me retrieve any codes and it wont scan with a scanner.

it runs pretty good cold. but is very sluggish when it warms up. once it gets warm the engine light goes on. and after the engine light goes on or its warm it shuts down past 4000rpm. like totally dies

I know a lot about gm diagnostic but nothing about ford. so please help me out. cause im very stumped

Have you tried the manual way of checking for codes? Its nothing more than a jumper wire across the harness, and then you count how many times the check engine light flashes.. Its very simple.. I'll try to attach a link to better directions..

When you say "dies".. Do you mean loses power, or engine actually quits running?

try a DIY koer test and blink them out

like it just falls flat until the rpms come down. like my gas pedal does nothing. I tried using a jumper wire and all it did was prime my pump at key on...then about a second later it primed the pump again and nothing happened

for a koer test car must be running, try the koer not the koeo

the car has a funny idle once and awhile and seems to run pretty rich. I get between 13-18 mpg in the city with 2.93 gears and a 5speed. it has some mods. And im just wondering if there is anything i should take care of that ive overlooked
