btw a 20 yr old head trying to compare with a newer designed head isn't fair.

Yeah, that was kinda my point. A more technologically advanced head has an unfair advantage, and there's only so much you can do with old technology.

door stops usually work lol!

i had 185's and i sold them for $800 with upgraded springs, and some mill work/clean up..

a good set of alumnium heads are out there, but after you make them right...wouldn't it be better off in getting a brand new set of heads that are set up right?

yes i sold used, but i'd be leary of buying used in some cases where a seller might not be honest.

I've been professionaly porting heads since 1968. Your machinist lied. And AFR 165 right out of the box will outflow any modified E7 even if you could pull air through the water jacket. About the best you can get out of an E7 is about 220cfm saftly. While I've never installed a set of 2.02 Valves in a set I can tell you from experiance it would hurt the flow. Bigger isn't always better.

A set of AFR 165's will flow 250 CFM right out of the box. There is no comparison between the two heads. Also the combustion chamber and alloy of the AFR is so superior that you can run a full point of compression more with the AFR over the E7
