V8 Spindles - what's going on here???
I bought used V8 spindles for $90. When I quickly inspected them, they looked OK. Although I might have only looked at one. They were both in saran wrap so I didn't feel like taking it all off.
Anyway, I sent them off to be powder coated and when I got them back, I noticed the following...
One of the holes that takes a screw is plugged! Is this normal?! I thought at first that maybe it was powder coat overspray but when I hit it with a hammer and screwdriver, it's clearly a type of metal. Almost like a weld or something. I don't know if I bought them like that OR if the powder coating place did it. Although, it doesn't make sense that the powder coating place would use metal to plug a hole. It just doesn't add up.
I have no idea what to think now? Anyone have any ideas? Is this normal? Can I still use the spindle? What is that hole used for? In total, I paid like $250 for the spindles and powder coating and I'm really heated right now.
Let me know what you think, please. Thank you

Thanks everyone - looks like the hole is for one of the screws that tighten the dust shield/backing plate to the spindle. I'm not sure how many screws hold the plate on but if it's three, then it shouldn't be a problem if one is missing (I hope).
If not, I'll have a shop drill it and run a tap. Thanks for your help!
