HELP I JUST INSTALLED CAMSHAFT
#21
You can't install roller lifters on a Flat tappet cam. You have already ruined the cam so before you ruin your engine get the cam and lifters out and toss them both in the trash before you have to replace your entire engine. You really screwed up. Minimize your losses and buy a hyd roller cam and a NEW set of hyd roller lifters before you really have to dig out some heavy duty cash. I wouldnt drive it another inch.

Omg. It says except 82-95 5.0 as well. I always wondered what would happen if you did that but wasn't about to find out first hand. And that thing was hardly better than a stock bumpstick.
Get that thing out of there!

Thought this was a funny read as well.
I just do not understand why so many people either 1) do whatever they want and ask a question after the fact, or 2) ask a question and do what they want anyway.
Lesson learned the hard way for sure.

IMO it is the wrong cam based on the rest of your mods (or lack of). What I would do personally is to put the stocker back in and run a set of Crane valve springs. This will allow you to rev the engine higher and let it pull all the way to 6000 rpm. With the stock cam and springs you hit valve float right around 5000 rpm and make less power. The stock valve springs are junk on these engines, they really are not even enough for the stock cam. FWIW I have put combos together that have run in the 12's on a stock cam with GT40 heads and intake.
