Not going to be good enough. You only hope is to out launch the LS1 and prey he does not come around you on the big end. You need a real drag radial (read that as NOT a Nitto 555r). Get the suspension dialed in and try and make some power with a GT40 set up. I have seen cars with stock GT40 heads and intake, stock cam go into 12's. It is not easy, not really cheap, but it can be done. You also had better hope he keeps that LS1 stock. Anything more than a few bolts on his car and you are toast, they respond to mods VERY well.

if you want to keep the sucky e7 heads thumper of orange park can open them up for you
these AFR's will work just a good with a 351 correct? the 351 just has a higher deck height? theyre not that expensive and the results were amazing. im considering! hah

even on a stock 302 bottom end i would get afr 185's, holley intake and a cam to match all that. it'll still be fast and then you have room to grow later on

BTDT afr 185's on a 351 would not be a wise choice..

i see the good ol ls1 is still god here...

a basic 10.5 331 canfield heads<untouched..minus correct springs>vicjr..ots/pro systems carb a custom cam in front of an auto would hand out a many of **** woopens to a poor little ls1 with many of mods.

so wait, if i was going to do AFR's on a 351w...itd be smart to go with 185cc's as opposed to the 165? thats understandable, but why wouldnt i want to go with AFR's? ive seen a few people on here with them

afr 165 and the 185's are kissing cuzin's.the only difference between the two are valve sizes, and that is it.

on a 351 based motor stroker or not it is not a 302 so why put 302 parts on it?

Grabbemcome come on man. You know a budget E7 headed 302 has nothing for a LS1 unless it is bone stock. He wants low buck and it is just not going to happen. When I sold my LS1 it was going 11.5's at 116 on motor. You could duplicate my car with about $5000 in mods. It's not about the LS1 being god, it's just about admitting when you are out-gunned. Now my new Stang might have something for my old car, but I am going a different direction and drag racing will not be the main goal.
